When Abbie emerges as a fully formed worker bee, she’s overcome with wonder at her surroundings–and by the Queen. She thinks (mistakingly) that one day she too will be a queen. Then she meets George. She’s never seen a drone before, and immediately falls in love. He’s very attracted to her too but…the Queen appears. and he only has eyes for her. She says he must wait, and tells him how (On a Special Day) when the New Queen emerges she’ll mate with her chosen drone. Abbie, heart broken and jealous, makes angry comments.
